Privacy

Names Forest collects as little as possible. This page explains what we keep and why.

Site analytics

We set one first-party, analytics-only cookie containing a random identifier so we can count returning visitors and see which campaigns bring them; it holds no personal data and is never shared or used for advertising. A second, short-lived cookie with a random session identifier groups the pages of a single visit and expires when you close your browser.

If your browser rejects cookies, we recognise return visits for up to 30 days using a one-way hash of your IP address and browser type; the hash cannot be turned back into either.

Alongside this we record standard, non-identifying details for each visit: the pages viewed, the address of the page that linked here, the campaign tags in the link you followed, the country derived from your IP address, and whether you are on a phone or a computer. IP addresses themselves are never stored. Detailed page-view logs are deleted after 180 days; only daily totals are kept longer. Records of buy-button clicks and searches, and the source of a visitor's first visit, are kept as part of our sales records.

Third-party measurement

We use Google Analytics to measure which campaigns bring visitors. It sets its own cookies under Google's privacy policy; browser tracking protection and ad blockers stop it without affecting this site.

Contact form

If you write to us, we keep your name, email address, and message so we can reply. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Buying a name

Purchases complete through a licensed escrow partner. Payment details are handled entirely by them under their own privacy policy; we receive only what is needed to transfer the name.

Your choices

You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time; the site works without them. To ask what we hold about you or to have it deleted, contact us.
